  • Radio Detection Equipment (Cat-Genny-Sonde). Courses are based on the Radiodetection C.A.T3 and Genny3 (which is equipment approved for use on Railways and Constructions Sites in the UK) however we can tailor courses to suit any make of Cable Avoidance Tool (i.e. RadioDetection RD4000, RadioDetection RD8000, EaziCat, etc)

  • We supply Radiodetection C.A.T3 and Genny3 equipment on our training sessions and customers are welcome to bring their own cable and pipe locating equipment along to our training courses.
  • Radiodetection C.A.T3 and Genny3 equipment can be hired from our Hire Desk, see our website www.mark1hire.co.uk for more information.

  • The requirements of the Regulations with respect to Detecting and Tracing Underground Services.
  • Reasons for using locators.
  • Hazards arising from the use of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators and precautions which should be observed.
  • Identification of types of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators.
  • Implications of damage, handling and transporting of Equipment.
  • Inspecting, calibration and testing of equipment.
  • The methods of safe use of pipe and cable location equipment, along with basic locating techniques.
  • Safe working practices.

What Do I Need to Bring?

This half day course consists of a theory and practical session.  All delegates must bring their own PPE to include SAFETY BOOTS and HARD HAT.  A High Visibility jacket will be supplied for the practical session.  As the practical session takes place outside, delegates should bring suitable weather protective clothing.

 

Please note, your photograph will be taken on the day so that we can produce a plastic identity card for the training.

 

Refreshments are supplied on all half day courses undertaken at our Approved Training Centres.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ON SITE TRAINING

We are able to offer training On Site, for which the following requirements must be met:-

Training Room Facilities:-

  1. A secure designated room for the theory session to take place – with sufficient number of tables/chairs, good acoustics, sufficient lighting (preferably window with blind), heating/air conditioning and fire exits clearly marked.
  2. Refreshment facilities.
  3. Toilet facilities.
  4. Presentation equipment will be supplied by Mark One Hire Ltd.
  5. Reference material will be supplied by Mark One Hire Ltd.

As our Instructors have to bring a lot of equipment with them when they train, we do request that a Parking Space be made available on the day.  We will also require a site contact name and mobile telephone number.

If the above criteria is not met in full and our Instructor is unable to carry out the training on the day, a charge will be made to cover his costs (i.e. one day’s salary and mileage).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paying for the Training Course/Certification/Cancellation Charges/Contact Us:

Payment Terms: Account Customers will be charged to their monthly account.  Non account customers will be required to pay at the time of booking the course.  For your convenience we are able to accept payment by credit/debit card over the telephone (at no extra cost).

Certification: Our charges include the cost of official certification.  Certificates and Identity Cards are posted out by First Class Recorded Delivery to the bill payer once full payment has been received.  If you require your certification urgently, please speak to our Training Department to discuss payment options.  Upon request, delegates can be issued with a letter confirming that they have passed the training course on the day and are just awaiting their official certification to come through.

Cancellation Charges:

Please note that you will be charged 50% of the total cost if cancellation is made less than 48 hours before the date of Training and 75% of the total cost if cancelled less than 24 hours before the day.  Please note, if all delegates do not arrive on the day you will be subject to 100% of the total cost.

Both of our Training Centres are easily accessible by road.

Southend Training Centre:-

Our Southend Training Centre is situated on the Purdeys Industrial Estate, Rochford, Essex, SS4 1ND.  Heading out of London, motorists can reach us via the A12, A13 or Junction 29 on the M25 and follow the signs towards Southend/Basildon (A127) and Southend Airport.  Our Training Centre is located approximately 5 minutes away from Southend Airport.  A map of the local area can be supplied upon request.

Directions for walking from Rochford Station:-

On leaving the station turn right at the main road, heading towards Southend.  Keep on this road, passing the Horse and Groom Public House on your left hand side.  At the next mini roundabout, The Ann Boleyn Public House, turn left, heading towards Purdeys Industrial Estate.  Stay on this road and at the next mini roundabout turn left onto the Industrial Estate.  Mark 1 Hire is situated on Purdeys Way just as the road bears round to the left at the bottom.  The journey will probably take about 20 minutes by foot.
