Confined Space Training

Our Confined Space training course is tailored to suit those working in the construction, rail, asbestos removal, agriculture, food production and telecommunications industries that may be required to enter or work in confined spaces such as pits, sewers, trenches, flues and chambers.

The one day confined space course covers both theory and practical exercises relating to working in confined spaces, with practical tasks being undertaken in our own purpose-built confined space training unit. The course is delivered, certified and accredited by experienced confined space training providers, Mark1 Training.

All delegates must have a good understanding/ communication of the English language in order to give/receive information. No interpreters allowed.

Our one day Low/Medium risk Confined Space training course consists of both theory and practical exercises relating to working in confined spaces, with practical tasks being undertaken in our own purpose-built confined space training unit.

The course is tailored to suit those working in industries such as construction, rail, asbestos removal, agriculture, food production and telecommunications who may be required to enter or work in confined spaces such as pits, sewers, trenches, flues and chambers where there is a low to medium risk of serious injury from hazardous substances or conditions within the space.

The course equips delegates with the knowledge and skills to recognise risks and deal with them confidently and in line with the Confined Spaces Regulations (1997). The course has a maximum size of 12 delegates and is delivered, certified and accredited by Mark One Training.

  • Recognition of a confined space
  • Risk assessments
  • Safe systems of work
  • Tea Break (Tea & Coffee provided by Mark 1 Training)
  • Using emergency breathing apparatus
  • Use of tripods, winches and other safety equipment
  • Recognition of residual hazards
  • Recognition of changing environments
  • Lunch not provided at this time
  • Using and interpreting gas monitors to verify safe atmospheres
  • Understanding the nature and occurrence of problem atmospheres
  • Reacting positively in an emergency situation
  • Regulations and codes of practice

Delegates should bring their own PPE to include Hard Hat, Safety Boots and Gloves.  Due to the nature of the Confined Space, we recommend that delegates wear “old” clothing. (NO short  sleeves or shorts) or a Boiler Suit if they have one.

Payment Terms

Account Customers will be charged to their monthly account. Non account customers will be required to pay by debit or credit card at the time of booking the course, either via our website or over the telephone. There are no additional booking or credit/debit card charges. Payment by bank transfer is also possible upon request.

Certification

Our charges include the cost of official certification. Certificates and Identity Cards (as applicable) are posted out to the bill payer (not the delegate), on receipt of full payment. All successful delegates are issued with a temporary pass certificate at the end of the course, apart from the SPA Core Construction. Candidates that pass this course will receive a Certificate, once the course has been logged onto the SPA database.

Cancellation Charges

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please notify our Training Team as soon as possible by calling 01702 561818 (lines open 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday).

Any amendments to a booking will be subject to a £25 + VAT administration charge.

Cancellation charges are as follows:

Between 24 – 48 hours from start of course £50% of the course cost
Less than 24 hours from start of course 75% of the course cost
Non-arrival on the day of the course 100% of the course cost
If You Are Running Late

If you are running late on the day of the course, please call your relevant training centre as soon as possible so that your instructor can be informed.

Southend Training Centre - please call 01702 545454 and Choose Option 1 to speak to a member of staff on the Hire Desk. The Hire Desk is open from 7.30am and staff will be able to relay a message to your instructor.
