PASMA Combined – Towers for Users & Low Level Access: OneDay Course Overview

Our oneday PASMA Combined course brings together the Towers for Users and Low Level Access qualifications into a single, streamlined session. It’s perfect if you’re responsible for the assembly, alteration, dismantling, moving, inspecting, or use of mobile access towers as well as lowlevel equipment (less than 2.5m) like podiums and work platforms and access equipment made from prefabricated tower components such as folding steps and folding tower units.

Delegates will gain an understanding of current legislation and best practice guidelines relating to working at height with mobile access towers, including both the 3T (Through the Trap) method and the new AGR (Advance Guard Rail) method, as well as working with low level access equipment such as podiums, folding room scaffolds and low- level access work platforms.

You’ll get the same trusted Mark One expert training covered in one intensive, but manageable day.

What You’ll Learn

This PASMA combined course blends theory and handson learning to give you practical competence across all relevant equipment:

  • Your responsibilities and legal requirements under workatheight regulations
  • Relevant standards, including EN 1004, BS 8620 (previously PAS 250), and PASMA’s Code of Practice
  • Where to find key safety documentation and guidance
  • How to assess when it’s safe to use mobile towers or lowlevel access units—and when it isn’t
  • How to conduct preuse checks and postassembly inspections on both types of equipment
  • The components of towers and lowlevel units, hazard identification, and how to manage personal health risks like fatigue and balance issues
  • Approved methods to assemble, alter, dismantle, move, and safely use both mobile access towers and lowlevel access equipment

Assessment & Certification

You’ll begin with a written theory assessment, a multiplechoice test with an 80percent pass mar, before progressing to a practical session to demonstrate your skills with both towers and lowlevel access units. When you pass the theory and practical components, you’ll receive a temporary certificate, each valid for five years. Just download the TowerSure mobile app to access your full certification.

Course Format

  • Duration: One day, covering both qualifications in a single session, which is more efficient than doing them separately over 1.5 days
  • Structure: A mix of classroom theory and handson practical exercises
  • Class Size: Maximum of 8 delegates. This ensures we can give you personalised feedback and guidance
  • PPE Required: Bring safety boots, hard hat, work gloves, and weatherappropriate clothing as the practical session is outdoors.
  • Legislation and regulations
  • PASMA Code of Practice
  • Tea Break (Tea & Coffee provided by Mark 1 Training)
  • BS EN 1004:2004
  • BS 8620:2016 (formerly PAS250)
  • Lunch (Not currently provided)
  • Best practice relating to fall protection
  • Inspection of completed low level and standard mobile access towers
  • Completion of tower inspection records
  • Hazard awareness (units and platforms)

Delegates are required to bring their own safety boots, hard hat, work gloves and high visibility vest. As the practical session takes place outside delegates are advised to bring weather protective clothing.
