PASMA Towers for Managers — One‑Day Course Overview

Our one‑day PASMA Towers for Managers course is designed for site managers, supervisors, safety officers, or directors responsible for overseeing teams using mobile access towers. You’ll gain the knowledge to plan, manage, and assess tower work, without needing to climb or assemble them, while making sure your team meets legal and safety standards.

After completing the course you’ll be able to make sure working at height is properly planned and organised and that those involved on site are competent and properly trained.

There is no prerequisite for this course, although a working knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and mobile access towers is an advantage. Our experienced trainers give you an understanding of the legislative framework around the use of mobile access towers, best practice guidelines and the role and responsibilities of managing work at height activities with mobile access towers.

What You’ll Learn

In our PASMA for managers training, you’ll explore:

• Your legal duties under the Work at Height Regulations and relevant safety standards
• How to find and use safety documentation, such as the PASMA Code of Practice 
• How to determine whether a mobile access tower is safe to use and when to stop work when safety is at risk
• Different tower types and the hazards they present
• Risk assessment and rescue planning techniques
• How to conduct pre‑use checks and inspections, without physically handling the towers
• Tower parts, behavioural safety, and managing personal health risks

Assessment & Certification

This PASMA managers course features a theory assessment with an 80 percent pass mark required to qualify. On successful completion, you’ll be issued a PASMA PhotoCard and certificate, showing your manager‑level (“M”) accreditation, which are both valid for five years.

Course Format

• Duration: One full day of theory-based instruction 
• Structure: Classroom sessions with discussion and case studies, with no practical tower exercises required
• Maximum Class Size: 12 delegates, so you always get personal learning
• No PPE required

• Tea Break (Tea & Coffee provided by Mark 1 Training)
• Assembling, altering and dismantling mobile access towers
• Best practice relating to fall protection
• Lunch (Not currently provided)
• Inspection of completed mobile access towers
• Completion of tower inspection records
• Hazard awareness
• Risk assessment and emergency rescue plans and provisions
• Inspection, tagging and reporting

No Personal Protective Equipment is required for this course.

Payment Terms

Account Customers will be charged to their monthly account. Non account customers will be required to pay by debit or credit card at the time of booking the course, either via our website or over the telephone. There are no additional booking or credit/debit card charges. Payment by bank transfer is also possible upon request.

Certification

Our charges include the cost of official certification. Certificates and Identity Cards (as applicable) are posted out to the bill payer (not the delegate), on receipt of full payment. All successful delegates are issued with a temporary pass certificate at the end of the course, apart from the SPA Core Construction. Candidates that pass this course will receive a Certificate, once the course has been logged onto the SPA database.
