What You’ll Learn

You’ll spend time learning through both theory and handson training, assembling stairway towers, inspecting them, adjusting them to different step heights, and dismantling them under the guided supervision of our expert instructors. With training from Mark One you’ll turn theory into safe practice.

During our PASMA towers on stairs training, you’ll learn:

  • Your legal responsibilities under Work at Height regulations, and how they apply specifically to stairway tower use
  • Key standards, product guidelines, and the PASMA Code of Practice for stairway towers
  • How to judge when using a tower on stairs is safe, and when you should try a different approach
  • Preuse checks and postassembly inspections tailored to stair towers
  • The components that enable stairway tower use, such as portal frames, props, base jacks, and adjustment modules
  • Methods to safely assemble, alter, move, and dismantle stairway towers, using approved techniques
  • How to access platforms safely when working above steps
  • Identifying and managing hazards unique to stairway work—such as uneven footing, differential load, instability, or misalignment
  • Best practices to preserve user health and prevent injury when working over stairs

Assessment & Certification

This PASMA towers on stairs course includes both classroom theory with an assessment and a practical assessment where you learn the practical applications from our experienced instructors. You’ll be assessed on the theory elements, requiring a minimum 80 percent pass mark to move onto the practical element where you’ll be tested on your demonstration of correct assembly, use, inspection, and dismantling of stair towers. On passing, you’ll get a temporary certificate, with your PASMA photocard available in the Towersure app. It’s valid for five years. Your card will include the “A5” category to show your stairway competence.
