City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Working in High Risk Confined Spaces (6160-03)

Our 3-day city and guilds 6160 low medium and high risk confined space training course consists of both theory and practical exercises relating to confined space work. The theory sessions will be conducted in our classroom and the practical exercises within our new purpose-built training unit.

The course is tailored to suit those working in industries such as water, drainage, construction, rail, food production, asbestos removal and survey who may need appropriate City & Guilds accredited certification to enter confined spaces such as pits, sewers, trenches, flues, wells, chambers and similar, where there is a risk of serious injury from conditions or substances within the space.

The course will equip delegates with knowledge and skills to recognise the risks and deal with them confidently and in line with the 1997 Confined Space Regulations

City and Guilds Level 2 Award in Working in High Risk Confined Spaces

Our three-day City and Guilds High Risk Confined Space Training course is vital for anyone who is working in a confined spaces such as pits, sewers, trenches, flues and chambers.

This High Risk Confined Spaces course gives you the knowledge and practical skills to work safely in a confined space where there is a risk of serious injury. The training course will equip you with the skills to recognise these risk and deal with them confidently.

In the practical session, they will learn in a purpose built practical training area where they will be taught how to deal with various scenarios in a controlled environment.

The course is suitable for beginners and experienced workers who need formal certification.

What You Will Cover In Our City and Guilds High Risk Confined Spaces Course?

Through a combination of classroom-based learning and hands-on practical training, the Confined Space course covers:

  • The regulations and legislation related to working in confined spaces
  • How to recognise a confined space along with its characteristics
  • How to carry out a risk assessment before entering the confined space
  • Working safely in a confined space with the correct PPE
  • What atmospheric hazards there may be and how to detect them with gas detectors
  • How to effectively communicate whilst in confined spaces
  • What to do if an incident occurs
  • How to prepare and use self-contained breathing apparatus
  • National classifications

What happens on the day?

The first half of the day you will be learning about the health and safety aspects of working in a confined space, using correct PPE as well as any pre-use checks and inspections that must be carried on the equipment.

The first day delegates will learn about low to medium risk confined spaces with escape berating apparatus. Along with understanding the principles of confined spaces and confined space work.

On day two delegates will be show how to prepare the breathing apparatus in preparation for an entry into a confined space under controlled conditions whilst wearing the correct equipment.

On the last day there will be a final assessment of setup and entry to the confined space wearing breathing apparatus and a pass or fail, final written examination.

Course Format

  • Duration: Three Days (typically 6–8 hours per day)
  • Structure: A combination of classroom theory and practical training at our purpose-built training centre
  • Class size: Maximum of 5
  • PPE:All delegate to be CLEAN SHAVEN from day 2 onwards and bring own PPE including boots hard hat and long sleeves and trousers (NO SHORTS)

All other equipment including Hi- Vis and Harness will be provided by Mark 1 Training

Payment Terms

Account Customers will be charged to their monthly account. Non account customers will be required to pay by debit or credit card at the time of booking the course, either via our website or over the telephone. There are no additional booking or credit/debit card charges. Payment by bank transfer is also possible upon request.

Certification

Our charges include the cost of official certification. Certificates and Identity Cards (as applicable) are posted out to the bill payer (not the delegate), on receipt of full payment. All successful delegates are issued with a temporary pass certificate at the end of the course, apart from the SPA Core Construction. Candidates that pass this course will receive a Certificate, once the course has been logged onto the SPA database.

Cancellation Charges

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please notify our Training Team as soon as possible by calling 01702 561818 (lines open 8:30am – 5pm, Monday to Thursday and 8:30 – 4pm Friday).

Any amendments to a booking will be subject to a £30 + VAT administration charge.

Less than 24 hours from start of course 75% of the course cost
Non-arrival on the day of the course 100% of the course cost

If you are running late on the day of the course, please call your relevant training centre as soon as possible so that your instructor can be informed.
